| Biography |
Dr Alison Brookes joined the Centre for Health and Society in April 2002. She has a BA in Philosophy and History and Philosophy of Science, and an Honours Degree in Women's Studies. Her PhD explored women's ethical decision-making regarding prenatal genetic diagnosis. Ali's research has been concentrated in the area of bioethics, in particular the ethical questions raised by the development and implementation of genetic screening, and ethical decision-making within health care practice. Her current research interests include empirical ethics, exploring ethical issues of paramedic practice, the work of health care interpreters, and nursing culture.
Ali is the academic coordinator of the Advanced Medical Science program within CHS, and supervises Masters and Doctoral students undertaking projects with a focus on social health.
