| Biography |
Jane Hocking is an epidemiologist and her research interests include sexual health and behaviour, sexual networks and the epidemiology, consequences and control of sexually transmitted infections. As part of her PhD investigating the epidemiology of chlamydia infection, she conducted Australia 's first population-based chlamydia prevalence survey. Jane's contribution to STI research in Australia was recognized in 2005 with a VicHealth Award for Outstanding Achievement in Health Promotion for her work investigating the Epidemiology and Control of Chlamydia Infection in Victoria .
Jane is an investigator on a number of research projects including two randomized controlled trials assessing different methods for increasing chlamydia screening in primary health care, a randomized controlled trial assessing the use of SMS for promoting sexual health information and she is currently conducting a longitudinal study of young women aimed at estimating the incidence and re-infection rates of chlamydia infection.
