| Biography |
Philomena Horsley joined the Key Centre as a lecturer in 2009. She coordinates the Women’s Sexual and Reproductive Health course and the short course on gender, violence and women’s health. She is also responsible for developing the Centre’s research program on the health and well-being of women living with disabilities.
Philomena is a medical anthropologist with a broad interest in women’s health, sexuality and sexual health including HIV/AIDS; social inequalities related to disability, sexual identity and age; and medical education and practice, particularly in the area of death and dying. Her PhD is an ethnographic study of the hospital autopsy. She also has particular expertise in research ethics, and is a long-time member of the Human Research Ethics Committees of Family Planning Victoria and SCOPE Victoria.
