| Biography |
David Studdert is a Federation Fellow at the University of Melbourne. He holds a joint appointment at the Melbourne Law School and the Melbourne School of Population Health.
Our group does research on topics at the intersection of the legal and health care systems. The research is primarily empirical, blending methods from epidemiology, economics, and policy analysis. Current projects include studies of medical injury, design of compensation systems, informed consent and regulation of pathology services in Australia.
Professor Studdert has authored more than 120 articles and book chapters. His work appears frequently in leading international medical, health policy, and law journals. In 2004, he received the Alice S. Hersh New Investigator Award from Academy Health.
Until January 2007, Studdert was Associate Professor of Law and Public Health at the Harvard School of Public Health
