Gemma is a PhD candidate (funded by the NHMRC and Sidney Myer Trust), and a Research Fellow with the Centre for Health and Society at the University of Melbourne. She specialises in organisational ethnography and has a Masters by research in Anthropology and Public Health.
Gemma’s research explores the health impact of policy interventions and organisational change in a variety of settings and sectors – such as primary care, the welfare sector, and local government. Her research investigates how social participation and social inclusion is operationalised and facilitated by organisations across these sectors, and the implications for population health. Based on this work, she has an emerging track record in social policy and health inequalities.
