| Biography |
Professor Carlin is a biostatistician with a part-time appointment in the Centre for Molecular, Environmental, Genetic and Analytic Epidemiology. He coordinates the postgraduate coursework program in biostatistics, which is offered in conjunction with the Biostatistics Collaboration of Australia (BCA). This program offers specialist training in biostatistics to Masters level (with PhD also available) via a national consortium employing distance education methods. His primary job is Director of the Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics Unit (CEBU) at the Royal Children's Hospital, a research methods unit jointly supported by the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute and the University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics. Most of his work there involves practical contributions to the design and analysis of research on a wide range of projects in clinical and public health research. He also pursues methodological research in biostatistics with a particular interest in methods for handling missing data in the analysis of epidemiological studies.
