Biography

Professor Eleanor Holroyd is an Honorary Professorial Fellow in the Key Centre for Women’s Health in Society

She is a medical anthropologist and an international expert in the Chinese womens reproductive health in particular the health and well being of female sex workers.  She is currently a Professor of Asian and Gender Nursing and Head of the Discipline of Nursing and Midwifery at RMIT University. She was previously an Associate Professor and founding member and Head of Undergraduate Gender Studies and Gender Research at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (1992 and 2006).

She has published widely in the area of culture, migration and health vulnerability of Chinese women  and is co-author of three  books and more than 60 journal articles and book chapters. Professor Holroyd is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Asian and Pacific Studies at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and consultants regularly for the WHO Centre at the Mahidol University in Thailand.
