| Biography |
Lukar Thornton completed his PhD at the University of Melbourne in 2008. Previously he had completed a Bachelor of Social Science (Environment) degree from RMIT University and a Masters degree in Environment from the University of Melbourne. Lukar is now employed as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Centre for Physical Activity and Nutrition Research at Deakin University. During his PhD candidature he was involved in a broader research program investigating neighbourhood determinants of health behaviours. He was also involved with the translation of research findings to key stake-holders including Local Governments. Lukar’s current research interests include environmental determinants of dietary behaviours and the development of more sophisticated measures of food access, both through improved conceptualisation and the utilisation of GIS.
