IT Resources Available to SPH Students

Computing Facilities

The School of Population Health has 2 computer labs:

  • Advanced Medical Science and Postgraduate Computer Lab (Room 430)
  • Teaching Lab (Room 432)

Both labs are located on Level 4, 207 Bouverie Street. Please note that no food or drink is permitted in any of the labs.

Computer Lab Availability

School of Population Health students are welcome to use the AMS and Postgraduate Computer lab during standard business hours (Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm). The Teaching lab is reserved for classroom teaching only.

Computers in the AMS and Postgraduate Computer lab are equipped with Microsoft Office, Adobe, Endnote, Web Browser, and Stata software.

Rules and Regulations

All students are required to familiarise themselves with the rules relating to the use of University Computing and Network Facilities (listed in your Student Diary and are also available at http://www.unimelb.edu.au/ExecServ/Statutes/r81r7.html)

Reporting a Computer Fault

If you are experiencing difficulty with a computer within any of the School’s computer labs, please notify the School’s IT Centre by submitting an email online at http://servicedesk.unimelb.edu.au/itsc/mdhs/. Please include any details about the fault, as well as the location (which lab) and the computer number.

Printing

The AMS and Postgraduate Student Computer Lab contains a printer for student use. Additional printing paper and toner can be obtained from the Academic Programs Office during office hours.

All School of Population Health students are allocated a yearly $25 quota of printing credit. Printing is charged at a cost of 10 cents per page. Additional printing credit can be purchased from the Academic Programs Office. Credit will expire at the end of each year.

Activating Your Printing Account

To activate your printing account, please send a request via the online form at http://servicedesk.unimelb.edu.au/itsc/mdhs/, stating your full name, student ID number and the course you are enrolled in. You will be notified via email to your University of Melbourne student email account when your account has been activated.

Photocopying

The School does not offer photocopying facilities for students. Information on University of Melbourne photocopying facilities can be found at http://www.lib.unimelb.edu.au/services/photocopying/.
